Food is a mixture of nutrients that produce energy for the body, stimulate growth, and maintain life.

 

That should be the first rule for our nutrition, our body to supply the materials it needs to produce energy. And there is a nonphysical component of digestion (means to promote the transformation of matter into energy), this is our mental attitude towards our food and the movement/exercise of our body.

 

There are endless dietary recommendations, views, systems. Each food is especially recommended or demonized in the various religious, health or ethical oriented nutrition recommendations. And there are climatic, regional and personal differences for our individual needs for food

 

There some basic guidelines

 

If you can’t digest it, don’t eat it.

 

And if you do not like at all, do not eat it. Even it is recommended as very healthy, everybody is different

 

Eat only what you can eliminate within 18-24 hours.

 

Stop eating before you feel full.

 

Rest after meals: nap after lunch, walk after dinner.

 

Don’t eat after sunset.

 

Chew more than you think you need to. The stomach has no teeth.

 

Have regular eating times, and eat only when you are hungry.

 

I follow the rules of the Yogi Diet, which was recommended by Yogi Bhajan. This diet can be adapted to all regional and personal circumstances. The yogic diet includes whole, simple, fresh, nutritious food. The yogic diet does not include meat, fish, poultry, or eggs. You can get all the proteins, vitamins, and minerals you need without them.

Fruits

Nuts

Vegetables

Grains

Legumes

Dairy products (If you're vegan, use the substitute products)

 

Whole, fresh, unprocessed nutritious foods give you energy and strength. When your diet consists of nutritious and sustaining foods and you eat only what you know you can digest, then you are on your way to a healthy, happy, and holy life. Cook and eat with joy and gratitude

 

Healthy eating includes making healthful food choices, which means knowing what and how much you eat. What we want to eat and what we should eat in order to supply our body optimally, is often very different story. We should be aware of the source from which our desire comes for specific foods. Our body is very intelligent and this body intelligence, would tell us exactly what are our system needs, to perfectly perform the functions and renew cells. But we have not learned to listen to the body intellingece, so most of the time our cravings are based on our emotional being.

Diseases which are have their origin in our daily diet on the rise. In our food, we are continually find new chemicals. There are food designers to invent so-called foods that are based to be produced as cheaply as possible and to be sold at high prices. The advertising also appeal to our emotions when food is presented.

 

So, how we can be aware what and how we should eat.
